ABOUT ME

Ernest Hemingway and I have a lot in common. For one thing, we were both born in Oak Park, Illinois. Now that I think about it, that’s about it. But I will say that my photo on the Home page screams out, “The Old Man and the Sea,” don’t you think?

I grew up in Oak Park and Wheaton, Illinois, graduated from Wheaton North High School, and earned a bachelor of science degree in journalism from Northern Illinois University. Through the years, I’ve worked at a number of newspapers, public relations firms, and marketing companies.

I’ve also been fortunate enough to author a few books you can see on the Home and Books pages, including one published by HarperCollins and another by McFarland & Co. I self-published several other books because the literary agents I approached with ideas were too short-sighted to understand their potential appeal. Either that or they were right and I’ll struggle to sell those books for the rest of my life. Only time will tell.

My Blog page is mostly geared toward writers working on authoring or selling their first novels, while on the Books page you’ll see a few compliments I’ve received about my work from various readers. And when I say “various readers,” I mean my mother impersonating different people.
